As the web grows and fulfill the ideals of web 2.0 the ingenious creators of Stumbleupon have come to the forefront of maximizing broadcast value. The internet for many is a vast unexplored desert. Within are hidden oasis's of enjoyable content, though without out a map no-one would find them. Stumpleupon is that map. The idea is a pretty simple one. Every one has their own places they like to visit on the web. We each have our own interests and hobbies. Stumbleupon allows users to share their favorite links with their friends and others who have similar interest.
It all begins by installing a simple toolbar. Oh no! we all scream in our minds. Who needs another toolbar! But to ease your worries there are no advertisements on this bar, just a configurations option. Simply create and account, then select from a list of say fifty of your favorite topics and hobbies. You are now primed and ready. Click the stumble button and away you go.
Stumble uses simple database and analyzer software to create a list of site based on your original selection. If you like the site, you give it a thumbs up on the toolbar, if you don't thumbs down. Be prepared to loose a lot of sleep as you venture from oasis to oasis.
The true beauty of the software is its ability to direct an audience of tens of thousands of users with pinpoint accuracy to a single photo per say, one found through a simple ftp image file search and then marked as a favorite. Now instead of the browser opening only the deep seeded image file, it brings up the photo bordered in advertisements related to the hobbies of the visited user!

Maddox, I remember one day long ago (sometime last semester) while I was in the lab working on the IS380 stuff, I overheard you talking to a friend about StumbleUpon, and I couldn't help but Google it. I became rather addicted to it for countless hours at work when I had no other projects to do! I must say that it is a neat little toolbar, and I'm glad you decided to blog about here and let others know about it's coolness. I have been way too busy to play with it much since this semester has begun, but it still is a rather fun and impressive add-on.
