Best of Both Worlds

Google vs. Zoho. For those who do not know, Zoho is a suite of online applications that you sign up for and access from a website. The applications are free and some have a subscription fee for organizations. They provide customers with set of applications available anywhere and several applications that have enough features to make your user experience worthwhile. As many of us know, Google has several apps which we use everyday. Like Google docs, Google groups or Google calendar.

Zoho has linked a project management tool with Google apps. These two companies are competitors but, this would benefits users from both services. The way it works is, Zoho Projects for Google Apps will let people sign in like they would normally do and the accounts on both services will then be merged.

Users can then put their documents from Google Apps into Zoho Projects. Zoho has several features such as assigning tasks to people, setting milestones and meetings, sharing document and also has online group chat sessions. This would very useful for our group projects and creating some of our deliverable that's due like Gantt Charts or Use Cases.

  1. Justin,

Thanks for showing us an additional set of mostly free apps to use, could possibly be of use to some of us in our studies. I currently use some of the Google stuff for class projects, but currently don't see myself using any of these services in my professional life, as it is a little un-nerving to me to put out corporate information out on the cloud.

  2. Justin,

This is good stuff. It would be great if this blog continues after the semester because I learn so much from it. I can see some real value in the project management application. Not everyone has access (from home) to Microsoft Project so this is a fantastic option. Thanks for the tip!

  4. I agree Diane, I mostly see Zoho as something that would be great for project management. This could be especially helpful for online courses where you may not actually meet in person, but have a group project. Thanks for the info Justin.
